The GKTECH high tensile 4130 zinc coated tie rod extenders screw on to the end of either standard or aftermarket tie rods and allow the tie rods to travel further into the steering rack which creates more steering lock. Great for drift or getting out of parking spots. Can be used either with or without the extra washer (included), with the washer this kit offers a grand total of 19mm of rack travel and 12-15 degrees of extra lock without compromising on the amount of thread left in the steering rack.

FAQs

Do I need to buy 1 of these rack spacers or 2?
You only need to buy 1 as buying 2 offers no benefit to the improvement of the steering lock. The way that these work is that they take advantage of extra travel available within the steering rack (which does have a limit). Hence the 13mm bolt on on the LH side of the rack and the 6mm washer on the RH side of the rack. Adding an extra rack spacer won't give more lock. In the event that your tie rod ends are too short then in that case using another bolt on rack spacer (on the RH side) would be okay.

How does this steering rack spacer work?
The steering rack spacer screws between the steering rack and your LH side tie rod. It allows the steering rack to travel an extra 13mm while the washer which is to be installed on the RH side allows for an additional 6mm of travel. Giving a grand total of 19mm of additional steering rack travel = 12-15 degrees more lock.

I've installed the rack spacer and I've got a heap of toe in, what happened?
After you have centred your rack (this is CRUCIAL) you may need need to trim your tie rod ends down to counteract the length that you've just put into the length of the rack. Whether you need to trim the tie rods down depends on your setup (Ie. if you've got longer LCA's or aftermarket knuckles you may not need to). Do NOT trim too much off or else you'll need to get a new tie rod and only trim down once you've centered the rack. Note that the LH side has a larger spacer so it will need the most attention.

What's the difference between this screw on steering rack spacer and the lock washers that you sell?
The steering rack spacer gives in total an additional 19mm of travel where as the lock washers only offer 12mm of travel (6mm each)

R33 rack spacer

Awesome product, easy to install! If you’re installing on r33 with stock steering setup you may run out of toe adjustment to bring the wheels back being being toed out (I had to buy 2x s14 super adjustable inner tie rods to fix the issue rather than cut down the rack ends). Steering lock greatly increased - love it!

Red hot rack spacers

This is by far. The most lock for your buck. Not enough lock for slow speed 90° turns. But a great improvement from stock that you will definitely notice and enjoy. Will. 180sx.

Great product, but if you use smaller spacer, make sure you have enough threads on inner tie rod

If you use this product make sure that you still have enough threads where you add the small spacer to the factory inner tie rod. (I believe the small spacer is optional).
-They sell inner tie rods with more threads for this reason but I didn’t see it mentioned..
-Great product but had my inner tie rod pull threads/brake and come out of the rack while drifting because of this reason. (Running factory tie rods). Stay safe out there!

Gktech kit is bae

The rack spacer coupled with the gktech tie rods and the v2 bolt on knuckle kit is giving me roughly 57* of lock! The fact that its on stock knuckles and has 0 Ackerman makes the steering super responsive. I can put the car wherever I need to drifting with 0* of toe in the front. The only thing I need now is a little more power out of my dusty dual cam ka to make this kit even more of a slayer!

Added this to my angle kit and it’s definitely a much needed addition. The rack now feels “happy” to provide me with the added angle and lock to lock has more of an “oem” feel, if that makes sense haha

I have a number of Gktech parts on my 350z at this point and am a huge fan. The prices are good, the quality is good, and the customer service is great. Nothing better than a company who genuinely cares about doing the best they can.

I bought for another car not a 240 got it wrong so I'm giving them to a friend they worked great years ago on a friends 240sx almost 40° angle with a lil toe out .... I need a m18x1.5 version of this ... I've seen a m18x1.0

You absolutely need adjustable tie rods with this setup on a stock car, I need to cut mine shorter as both wheels are toed out to the right RHD 350z, overall I entered my rack and there’s so much angle you won’t be able to run out for a while.

Yes, it's common to have to cut your tie rods.

Kit is great quality. Fits up a dream. As a note to all you R34 skyline people, if you put these on your stock GTT, you will need the super lock knuckles, or shorter tie rods to use these. But, really, who WOULDN’T buy the knuckles as well.
