S13/180sx Drum handbrake cable conversion plate for Z32 2+2 cables

When upgrading your S13/180sx rear brakes to Nissan 2 pot caliper and rear drum handbrake you will find the handbrake cables do not exactly line up to the S13/180sx chassis and handbrake lever.

The GKTECH cable conversion plate is made from laser cut 5mm thick steel and allows you to easily adapt Z32 2+2 handbrake cables to your S13/180sx chassis and handbrake lever.

We allow these lines to be located via the OEM handbrake pin which is cast into the cable bracket into the bracket and also have incorporated an M8 thread in the plate to hold the cables down rather than the M6 thread used from OEM. This means you don’t have to waste time around with loose nuts on the top and fidgeting around with spanners and tools.

NOTE: MUST be used in conjunction with the Z32 2+2 door handbrake cables. Will NOT work with other cables.

FAQs

Can't my original lines bolt up?
No, they do not. When doing a brake conversion that requires drum brakes you will find the cables do not match up to your S13/180sx OEM lever and front cable. This means you need our conversion plate that enables you to keep your OEM lever and front cable while running the Z32 2+2 door handbrake cables.

Will this work with any other cables?
No sir! This plate has been designed to only use the Z32 2+2 door handbrake cables, as mentioned above.

Why use an M8 hole to locate the cables instead of the M6 provided by the factory?
We noticed the OEM handbrake cable has the allowance for a larger bolt to be used to secure the cable, why not use something that is already there to make a better/stronger product!

Is 5mm too thick and will this cause any issues?
There are no clearance issues and considering people are constantly pulling the handbrake whilst drifting we felt the need to overcompensate an important connecting part.

Does this come with everything I need?
Yes, this kit comes with all the accessories to bolt directly up.

What if I have R-chassis rear brakes fitted, which cable do I use?
This listing is for the use of an Z32 cable which can bolt up to your R-chassis rear brakes and the adapter plate also in this listing. You do not need to purchase the R-chassis cable in our other listings, that is only for a direct OEM replacement.

Works great!

Gktech seems to have fixed all the previous complains on the bracket rubbing and not clearing the driveshaft. I did not run into those issues. They added an extra bend to help fix the issue people were running into in the past.
It would be helpful in the future if they maybe laser marked which side is on the car and which isn't.

Clean and Simple

Easy and direct hookup to both cables. No issues and love the bend on the bracket to provide clearance on the driveshaft. Best quality without a doubt.

Great product, wrong plate, but made it work.

Arrived in about a week, well packaged with required hardware. I did notice a slight bend in the bracket to presumably prevent e-brake cable rubbing on the drive shaft. This seemed to be an issue from YouTube videos of installs. If the slight bend was a result of customer feedback, well done to GK Tech for listening to their buyers. I’d purchased Silvia e-brake assemblies separately, so had to mod the bracket with a few relocated holes. Not a problem and no reflection on a great product, more a lack of research on my part as GK Tech does carry the right bracket for my case.

Does what it says on the tin

Only issues I ran into was 30 year old Nissan rust getting in my eyes during install, but that isn't really something I can blame GK for.
Lines up, bolts on, does exactly what it says on the tin. Plenty of clearance above the bracket for cables if that's your speed - might move them in future but I haven't had any issues running them below as of yet. Drum brake works fine, and I love the adjustment holes for depending on the condition of your handbrake cables.

Use a different brand

I was a die hard fan of al gktech but after constant let downs I recommend a different brand. The customer service is horrible. They do not believe what your right even if you have pictures. This bracket has clearance issues. I tried on my s13 hatch and coupe and the bracket needs to vent to work. Don't believe me? Check YouTube. DO NOT BUY unless you can cut and reweld it. Or you bend the mount point in the car.

We acknowledge that we supplied the wrong bracket in error and we quickly rectified the issue by sending a replacement at our cost. We appreciate your loyalty to our brand and hope you will give us another chance in the future.
